This is the biggest thing I have done since starting this little ol’ blog and I have kept it quiet for 5 months…..
I remember sitting at the table outside the coffee shop, after we had dropped the littles off at preschool, talking about what we were reading, obsessions and such. Different blogs came up as we discussed, and the entire time I kept thinking, maybe this is something I could do. Just put up a few of our renovation projects.
That was over 4 years ago, and I would have never imaged everything that has happened because of my slight obsession with this place on the interwebs.
Fast forward to last year at Haven Conference, my first blogging conference ever.
Mind Blown.
Period.
I watched, absorbed and had my brain spinning for three solid days. I took away more than my brain could handle but it was good, so good.
One thing, among many, that kept hanging around, floating in my uppermess was one of the sweetest ladies I had met during the weekend.
Her name is Chris, and she was a rep from General Motors. Yup, they were sponsors at Haven. I wasn’t too sure why, but soon found out.
Every year GMC teams up with Habitat for Humanity, and they take a small handful of DIY bloggers along the World’s Largest Yard Sale~The 127 Corridor Sale.
The bloggers load up one vehicles provided by GMC, are assigned a space, scour the yard sale items, paint and touch up what needs to be and fully furnish a Habitat for Humanity House and present it to the Homeowner.
We watched a video from the year before, the bloggers and Chris talk about their experience and I pretty much lost it, crying in the crowd and having it hover for months afterwards.
I reconnected with Chris again and we talked back and forth. She sent me an invite, I quickly call husband and we both agreed this would be an awesome opportunity. We both know the power and value of people coming together and donating their time, talents and efforts after our fire, and to be able to give back in any way becomes much more important. This was something I felt like I had to do.
Submitted everything back to Chris and I was set to go. Fast forward five months and I can’t believe its here already.
I am set to leave on Tuesday, August 5th in route to Atlanta. We we set sail on Wednesday in the Yukon’s GMC has provided, travel and scour for goods up 127. Our final destination is Cincinnati on Sunday, where we finish furnishing and present the homeowners with there new home. Then we are flying back to our areas of the globe.
We received our email with the main information last night, and who is going with us.
