I have had several ask about the Rice Krispie Sushi that I made for my son’s Geek Squad Party I posted about back in the fall. It’s crazy easy, the 12 year old helped me with it while I put together the other snacks.
I am not a huge fan, not at all, of the pre-made rice krispie treats, I totally dig the homemade ones. BUT, I used the premade one because I ran out of time they are more compact and easier to cut out. I looked and looked for a small circle cookie cutter, like for biscuits, and looked.
and looked…
Finally, went into Bed Bath and Beyond and found this little doodad…Said it was for cupcakes, to take the center out and put filler in…
It was perfect. I took the premade rice krispie treat, put it on the cutting board and was able to get two circles out of one treat. We ended up using the left over scraps to squish together and make more.
Smash it down and push the button to get the treat out…
I took the snack size fruit roll-up, I picked the multi-fruit flavor for the colors. We all really like strawberry, but opted for looks ;). I had to press more than cut to get it sliced.
So, if I can correctly add, that means one rice krispie treat and one snack size fruit roll-up makes two sushi’s…or is it two sush-i?
Start by placing the treat on it’s side and line it at the top of the roll-up. They will stick together crazy good…
Continue to roll to the end of the roll-up…
Flip over, and wrap it up, bottom-side-side-top…
A slight smudging might be required to make it stick…
And viola… My plan was to add green food coloring on the rice krispie, but again, I ran out of time the kids probably wouldn’t of eaten it…
I canNOT explain how crazy good these were. I think we ate a whole box before we even made it to the party. And then ate more… the little geeks turned into little walking, screaming sushi..
I am planning on doing more food tutorials from this party, everything was super easy.
