When I offered to bring a side over to a friends house for church, I had that all-too-often feeling of ‘crap…what should I make’, then it hit me.
Something that I haven’t made in a while and its super yummy (like so good, my kids were trying to eat them before they were cooked) I used to make these a ton, especially when we entertained, but it seems like it had been ages since I had.
The bundles are almost like a dessert and always go over insanely well, even the men were asking what all was in them.
Green Bean Bundles
2 (14.5-ounce) cans of whole, drained greenbeans
8 slices of bacon, cut in half lengthwise
4 tablespoons of butter or margarine
4 tablespoons of brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste
(I double the recipe when we have company)
1. Wrap bacon half around 8-10 beans to form a bundle.
2. Secure with a toothpick or lay seam side down in a glass baking dish that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
3. Melt butter in a sauce pan, stir in brown sugar, garlic powder, salt and pepper. (I just dump in all at once)
4. Pour over bundles and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
Someone insisted on helping, and she gave the brown sugar a thumbs up…
I know you are drooling, just admit it.
I ended up making these again just for us since the offspring considered this some sort of child abuse that they didn’t get to have any. I am definitely a ‘sides’ type of girl, I can always skip the entree and just eat the sides…and we did just that.
