I can’t even call this a DIY.
leaning towards a hack, but seriously, it was too easy for that.
I snagged up the littlest a chair from Ikea
from our last trip, for her new room.
And there it has sat.
and sat
sat
sat
in the corner of her room. acting as a catch-all.
Believe it or not, this is actually clean.
I was really excited for this. It’s supposed to hang from the ceiling, so it would appear as if it was floating, which would take up less space. I would wrestle as far back in the corner as possible.
Clearly the Ikea Gods got me here. You become stuck in the ooey goodness of ikea,
and loose all focus.
Reality check: I can’t exactly snuggle it back in the corner. We Husband had to get up in the attic and connect it to a beam, and being as I basically wanted it so far it was hanging from the eaves, we he couldn’t quite get there.
And while I am all about her becoming a trapeze artist, I had a super bad vision
of the swinging that would occur after I read the directions
So, it sat some more….
A sweet friend came to pick up her little dude and had a suggestion, that made me want to stomp my foot at how easy it was.
Why couldn’t I buy or make someTHING that it can hang from, and not the ceiling?
PURE.ROCKET.SCIENCE
Planning and scouring of how to make something, it hit me during church last Sunday,
where most of my design ideas do, probably because it the stillest I become all week.
Made a trip to pier1, and viola. A stand was born.
Definitely more than what I wanted to spend, but I didn’t have to build it and took less than 5 minutes.
I ran to Home Depot and grabbed two feet of heavy chain and a spring link.
The stand came with the white spring.
Made a noose of sorts. I had to run the spring link through sideways as below, it wouldn’t open up quite big enough for the chair.
I had just finished the lights,
(I have an obsession with lights on everything lately, wait for future posts!)
when she came in and decided to read in it, clearly the book was intriguing .
Today has covered quite a few ‘nap times’ and snuggles….
The shade for her window is in progress….like it’s actually drying from paint.
Check back next Thursday for an update!
