on the first wednesday of the month, except for last week (ahem..), I will be talking about investment pieces that I have for my personal wardrobe. All of mine vary in price range. My norm is usually thrifty, but I do have a few things that are definitely worth the price tag.
I will go through what I will and won’t splurge on.
How long will I be able to keep this series up? Well lets see…
denim.
on top of denim.
on top of…..you guessed it….denim.
This has always been a hard one for me.
1. I grew up in the 80’s & 90’s….part of me thinks of pleated khakis when I think of denim shirts. And then I physically shutter.
2. Things drive me nuts when they aren’t symmetrical, so matching denim with denim. Don’t even think about it.
3. Sometimes I feel like I should be eating barbecue and headed to a picnic if I wore it.
4. Don’t get me going on the whole PTA mom thing….Tapered Jeans, do they even make SAS’s anymore?
I have several denim shirts, in an array of colors. Some are stiff, hold tight to their wrinkles like it’s all they have… mainly because of quality and fit. I did not shell out very much AT ALL on them.
So when we were out this last week, I took the two eldest out to the cafeteria of clothes (aka, the mall) and while I was twiddling my fingers in American Eagle I saw this one.
Perfect weight, nice fit and a great color. Even after washing and drying it hung perfectly, no ironing.
And when I wore it, I went back and forth with pants…you know my whole denim on denim issue, but it’s like what it went the best with. Some of my favorite F21 jeans. gawwwsh, I love it.
The shirt ran right at $50, which I will be the first to admit it, that’s more than what I normally want to spend on a shirt, unless it’s a real keeper. That being said, I have already worn it multiple times and consider it to be an investment piece. I will be hanging on to it till the next denim go-around.
What about you? Do you have any denim you have spent more on that you plan on keeping a while?
