SwapItLikeItsHot Thrift Store Swap

A few months back, Charlotte from Ciburbanity messaged me and asked if I would like to participate in her series, SwapItLikeItsHot. Its a thrift store swap that 33 bloggers particiapte in. We were only allowed to spend $15 max, had to shop at a thrift store and had to mail it over to the next blogger so that they can work their magic on the items :).

DIY Felt Hoop Art by Two Thirty~Five Designs

I received my package from one of my instagram homies, Shavonda at SG Style (go. check her out right now) and was just giddy when I opened it!

The wooden cup brought back memories of playing with them at my grnadparents house, as did the hoops.
I have been dying to make some hoop art lately and this was the perfect chance.

First off, I took the wooden cup, applied washi tape and sanded very lightly.

Using my metallic gold Martha Stewart paint, I applied a couple of thin coats.
I let it dry while I moved on to the hoop art (which it did very quickly).

Next, I grabbed the hoops and took out the fabric.
Using a drop cloth, I cut two circles large enough for the hoops.
I had a couple pieces of felt and used my cricut machine to cut out a few things. Applied felt glue and let set into place for about an hour.
Attached the drop cloth inside of the hoop and I couldn’t be happier!

I snatched up some goods at my local thrift store and sent them to the East Coast! You guys are going to want to see what Jillian from I Am Homemaker did with them!
