Husband and I are both self employed….big fist pumps and sad emojis all at the same time.
It’s great owning your own businesses, and it can suck big time when you talk about health insurance. b.i.g.t.i.m.e.
Last year when our insurance was up on the air again, we both knew that something needed to change with how much we were at the doctor and prescription prices skyrocketing. I had a handful of friends that were into essential oils and I tossed the idea around.
And dragged my feet for months.
In the summer I started dabbling with them here and there, to see if they really ‘worked’ and if it was all just hippie dippy bologna (if you have kids who have legos, you will probably get that).
Even though my little’s asthma has hit with full force, no one has really been sick this fall.
Christmas break came, along with three rounds of the flu and ear infections. I ran the oils constantly and doused everyone and everything in oils. Our temps stayed between 99.0-100.0 and symptoms came and went faster than they ever have.
But the kicker for me? When the eight year old came in screaming in the middle of the night, her ear was about to explode.
I grabbed two oils, rubbed them on and she was back to sleep within 20 minutes. She began asking for it when the pain came back. I don’t know about you, but I would rather rub an oil on her than give her ibuprofen over and over and it hardly touch the pain.
I will show you guys how we dealt with her infection next week, but first I thought I would show you guys an insanely simple recipe for a DIY Hand Sanitizer, especially getting back into the swing of school.
I cringe when my kids tell me that they use hand sanitizer at school. Not only does it kill good bacteria and dry out your hands, it can be dangerous for littles. And I can’t even handle the perfume sanitizers that the girls get obsessed with….full blown asthma attack waiting to happen.
So this is what we have been using for the fall semester.
I can’t say enough about it!
First off, it last foevs and evs. Seriously, you just add a couple drops and its good for months.
It’s super cost efficient, just the cost of the bottle, a couple drops and salt.
And it smells amaze. I always have one in the car to fully bathe everyone after school.
Lets get to it!
Supplies:
Small Glass Spray Bottle, at least two ounces. (If you use plastic, it will warp)
Thieves Essential Oil
1/4 tsp Sea Salt (you can use regular, we just prefer sea salt)
Small Rollerball Jar
2 oz. of Water
1. Pour two ounces of water into your glass spray bottle.
2. Add in at least 5 drops of Thieves Essential Oil.
3. Add Salt.
4. Shake very well.
Why do we add salt? It adheres to the oil and helps it mix well, instead of just floating around.
Shake well before every use.
So what’s the little roller ball for?
I send these littles with my littles to school. It’s small enough to keep in their pockets/purse/backpacks and pull out quickly.
1. Pop the roller ball off of the top.
2. Shake your Thieves mixture well and pour into the small jar.
3. Snap roller ball back into place. Label if wanted.
In less than two minutes, you are set, ready to tackle those nasty germs that are ready to attack 😉
